How to Become a Foster Parent for a Younger Sibling

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Alablama

I am writing a book about a young girl who left home as soon as she was legal, and at the age of 21 finds out that her mother died while giving birth to her sister and 10 months later her dad (who physically and sexually abused her) is arrested for substance abuse. How would she go about gaining custody of her baby sister? also later in the book the dad gets out of jail and wants custody of his daughter. How would the older sister keep custody of her sister and adopt her?

You need to research the custody and adoption laws in Alabama.

This is not a homework question. I have tried to find out the process, and i have just been looking on google and found nothing. I am not going to stop researching, I just seem to be having a hard time finding out where I should start. This is my first book ive actually been able to get past chapter 3, so I want to make it as accurate as possible.

As in, "Alabama custody laws"? "Alabama adoption laws"?

What is this website for, if not for people who have knowledge of something, to share that knowledge? I am not asking anyone to research for me. I am simply asking for anyone who has knowledge of this subject to help me out. I have googled Alabama custody laws and haven't been able to find what I need. A thread from this website was one of the search results and I decided to see if anyone on this website could help me out.

It's for people with legitimate legal issues to ask their questions and get help.

Not for homework or researching on someone else's behalf.

You could always pay someone to do the research for you.

If you din't want to help you could have ignored this post. Research is the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions. This is part of my research, because research is utilizing any and all tools out there. No where in the forum guidelines does this website state that you must have a legitimate legal issue.

So you read my response, chose to ignore what I actually said and hone in on my mistake. Yes, I did misspell a word, so of course that means I am a terrible writer.

For any other aspiring writers:

Custody and adoption issues are often incredibly complex. They are absolutely fact-dependent. This is why there's rarely a "one fits all" response.

Nobody here is going to walk you through every possible complication or scenario. We volunteer our time here to try to help people who have REAL legal problems. If you cannot navigate the library or the Internet yourself, then you're likely going to fail miserably.

I appreciate your time and energy, I really do, however I believe you totally missed the part where I said this post was not the sole basis of my research. My post on this website is merely a tool to help me gather information to provide accurate details in my book.

I am also a writer. I do a LOT of research on my own. While I have come to this board for verification of what I have found, to be certain I am interpreting it correctly, I would not ask them to do the research.

I'm willing to bet that if you checked out the other resources, and then came back and said, This is what I've learned would be the case. Am I right? No one would bat an eye.
