Can You Be Charged for Using a False ID If You're Released

My question involves criminal law for the state of: texas

i was recently detained and i gave a false name, thinking had a warrant, the police let me go but told me to call them when i could think of a name of someone they were looking for or could give them info on a wanted person. they said if i called they would forget about the falsifying my id. can they piick the charge up later if i do not call them?

Sure they can.

Will it lead anywhere? Anybody's guess.
