Caught With Drugs, Charged With Simple Possession
My question involves criminal law for the state of: South Carolina
My son was arrested for Simple Possession in Myrtle Beach. We paid a cash bond and he has a court appearance at the end of this month. We live almost 13 hours away. Is it possible to handle this over the phone without having to appear in court?
Obviously pleading not guilty is not an option since it was in his pocket. He has no prior offenses of any kind.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Re: Caught With Drugs, Charged With Simple Possession
For most crimes you have to go to court. You have shared virtually no facts, so if you want to try to resolve this without going to court or with the fewest possible court appearances you can call some lawyers in the county where the charges were filed on Monday morning and share the relevant facts.
Re: Caught With Drugs, Charged With Simple Possession
Simple Possession is a misdemeanor for the unlawful possession of no more than 28 grams of marijuana. For a first offense it is punishable by a fine or up 30 days in the County jail. Your son needs a lawyer. Participation in a pretrial intervention program may be granted
