Can I Be Emancipated Without Having a Job
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: New Mexico
Hello, My name is Chris and I wish to be emancipated in the state of New Mexico. My dad constantly verbally abuses me and used to physically abuse me. I have a broken rib on my left side to prove it. I have tried to get a job on my own but he won't let me. He makes me work at his company and makes me go everywhere with him. He makes it a point to put my sister above me. He does drugs, him and my mom both. He ships me off every year to military school so he does not have to deal with me so he says. I have been doing well in school, I also have a permanent place I could live at. The thing is, my family will not let me. I would still be attending school as a junior in high school if I went there. My GPA is a 3.34, I would have clothing, food, a job, and a permanent place to live where I would go. I would be paying rent at the house. I would have to move out of city though to go to this place. Would I be able to be emancipated? Even with the only thing proving that he physically abused me is a broken left rib that has healed over the years.

C.will, are you currently living away from your parents and supporting yourself 100%?

If the answer to either of these questions is no, then you will not qualify for emancipation in any state.

I have my best friends dad willing to adopt me, is there any way I can get that done?

Not unless both of your parents are willing to allow it.

I suspect your gpa is a 3.4 due to military school.
