Use of Sports Logos Without Permission
My question involves business law in the state of: I'd like to use professional and official team logos of the NBA, NFL (all team logos in each league as well) etc. I'd like to know what I have to do to acquire a license or "permission" to do so, as well as any associated costs, and so forth. This business will be selling clothing and accessories online. The distribution will eventually be global. However, this will be ran and operated from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Thanks in advance for all answered questions and directions.

    Re: Official Logo Use
You have to purchase a license and sign a contract with whomever is the controlling entity over the particular logo.

I can almost guarantee you will not be granted a license given the intended purpose. They control the use of the logo's quite closely and only authorized products will be allowed to display the marks. Everybody wants to toss team logos on outerwear but only a select few are actually authorized to use them.
