Texas Unemployment
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Texas
I recently told my boss I couldnt take it anymore. Being the only US citizen on the sales team (the rest are on work visas illegally) the owners treat everyone like animals. I lost my grandfather on May 4th and I couldnt handle both things so on May 15th i told my boss i was done. My Unemployment was denied. My employer is refsing to give me unemployment, pay me my unpaid wages and even send me COBRA health package. Do I have a case for an appeal? if so how should i go about it? .
Thanks,

Re: Texas Unemployment
Your employer does not owe you COBRA if you quit. Nor do they owe you unemployment. Thank our gov't and their special interests for giving out all the visas. Plan on that getting much worse very fast. There are major players that get skim from the food cards and other services they are trying to force everyone on.

Re: Texas Unemployment
Your employer is not the one denying you unemployment - the state is. It is extremely hard to get unemployment when you quit. It is NOT the decision of the employer who does and does not get it.
You can file a complaint for the unpaid wages with the TWC. Your boss is still well within the legal limit to send COBRA information so there is no action you can take on that yet - he has a total of 44 days from the day your coverage ends, which I *believe* in your state is the end of the month in which your coverage ends. (Do not quote me on that - your state is the only state that ever had such a law and I am not 100% certain if it is still in effect - but even if it's not he's still within the legal limit.) If he does not send COBRA information within the appropriate time the regulatory agency is the US DOL.
You can appeal the UI but I have very little expectation that you will prevail.
