My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Virginia
I am 16 and no longer wish to live with my parents, my siblings and I do not like how we are treated and I have waited until I was 16 to get emancipated. I have a way to support myself and somewhere to live, if you could just help me through the process and direct me to the sites and the paperwork that I need to do then please help. All help is greatly appreciated.
Contrary to popular belief, emancipation is not intended to be a means to leave home; it is intended as a means to provide legal protections to those minors who are ALREADY living on their own.
So, can you pay the market rates for rent, utilities, food, clothing, medical care, insurance, transportation, staples, school fees and supplies, etc., all on your own with no assistance whatsoever, while still going to school and getting better than average grades?
