Do You Need to Get Emancipated if You're 18
My question involves guardianship in the State of: Indiana
I turned 18 in march. I just graduated high school. my mother was granted full legal custody of me in her and my fathers divorce. my mother and I are not getting along at all and haven't been for a long time. I have a part time job making $8.00 an hour. I have other living arrangements made. im just wondering if I even need to get myself emancipated at this point. I do not want my mother having any legal or finical say over my life. what should I do???

    Re: Emanciaption
In Indiana, you are already an emancipated adult at age 18 and no longer subject to parental authority. Indiana DOES however have restrictions on your ability to enter into certain types of contracts until age 21.
