Disorderly Conduct and Marijuana Possession
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey
Disorderly conduct of possession of marijuana,
Hi this is my first offense and I have a court date in June. I already hired a public defender and need to meet him before court and figure out rather to plead guilty or not guilty, this is my first offense I am a full time student majoring in criminal justice ( I know how ironic) and I also have a full time job. The reason why my friend and I got arrested was due to a DWI checkpoint. When we reached to the check point the officer smelled marijuana in the car and made us pull into the lot. The officer asked us if we had anything on us and I wasn't going to lie to the cops so I told him the truth and handed over a tiny joint that we had which was all we had. We got our mug shots and finger printed and to be honest I really don't want anything on my record . What are the possibilities of me pleading not guilty and having it off my record and just paying a fine?
Re: Disorderly Conduct , Marijuana Possession Plead Guilty or Not Guilty
You need a lawyer. Plead not guilty unless you have personal counsel as to the implications of doing otherwise.
You go to court on this you will have a lifelong criminal record. What law enforcement organization do you think is going to employ a pot head?
There is frequently the possibility of a pre-trial intervention to avoid a criminal conviction. Of course, many police departments will discover your drug use even with a PTI.
