    Emancipation in Washington State
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Washington
I am turning 16 at the end of July. My mom lives here and my dad lives in another state. I haven't lived with either of them for almost six months. I live with the lady I baby sit for and I get paid by the state. Do I have a good chance to get emancipated or no?

The biggest question is going to be: are you able to sustain yourself financially. One way to look at that is: if you lost this job or are not allowed to live there anymore, could you pay your own way in the world. I suspect that will be difficult for you to prove.

Why do you feel you need to be emancipated?

I am a 16 year old girl that lives in Indiana. I was wondering what all it would take or if it was possible to be emancipated in Indiana. I have a mother who is an alchoholic and ever since her boyfriend moved to Arizona she has become unbearable. She wanted me out of her house and back in with my dad at the end of the Summer but for some reason she told me last night I have 3 weeks and I'm out. She will not even buy me food and me and my boyfriend already pay for as much as we are allowed to. My dad wouldn't let me pay for my phone bill and now I have no choice, I have to. I buy my food, he pays his truck payment, and he was the one who took me to get my permit. My parents WOULDN'T! My dad use to abuse me and still verbally abuses me and in his religion he is really set in their ways. He constantly tells me that I'm going to hell and I'm basically hell bound. I do not fully agree with his religion and he hates it. Both of my parents like my boyfriend and he has always obeyed their rules. He is very independant and he moved up to Indiana from Oklahoma to get to know his dad. If I can get emancipated then can I have my own apartment? I was trying to get a job and then my mother said I couldn't since she is kicking me out. I don't know what to do and if I can't get emancipated then what can I do? I'll be 17 in September so does that change anything? My parents think I can't take care of myself but I am the one who does everything. My mom is never home and I am the one who cooks, cleans, and everything else. I don't have the best attendance but that is due to my dad's illness in which he almost died a couple of months ago and I will have my license in November and will be at school everyday. I want to show them and myself. I want to get out of this mess and just live. Thank you.

You missed the part where you have a job that pays you enough to pay all your own rent, utilities, food, clothes, medical care, transportation, insurance, staples, school fees and supplies, etc., while continuing to go to school and get better than average grades.

    Oh. You don't?

Then you can't get emancipated. As you would know if you'd read any of the thousands of posts on the subject.

However, you are still a minor and your mother is responsible for you. If she persists in this idea that she is kicking you out, call CPS, the local police, a pastor/rabbi that you trust, or a school counselor.

Then why did you hijack a thread about emancipation in Washington? By your age, I would expect you to know that Indiana is not located in Washington.
