Minor Blackmailing Adult Over Indecent Photos
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia
Ok so a friend of mine gets this random email from some girl. she claims she was trying to get in touch with somebody else and misspelled something. So anyways they start talking and she starts asking for pictures and so they exchange a few pictures. then she starts demanding dozens of indecent pictures, he sends some more and she starts getting very demanding. When he confronts her she says she is a minor and if he doesnt give her all the pictures she demands she will tell her parents and go to the police (because of what was already sent) so he freaks out because he doesnt want to get arrested for some insane sex crime and have his life ruined, so he sends what the girl demands until shes finally satisfied and leaves him alone. now hes freaking out afraid of what could happen if anybody found out or if she told on him or something. I understand the issue of stupidity here, but at the same time, he didnt know the girl was a minor and when he found out she blackmailed him to get what she wanted. So far nothing has come of this.... Any advice or just sit back and pray nothing happens?
Re: Minor Blackmailing Adult for Photos
That's basically all your friend can do.
Except for the obvious - quit sending explicit photos to strangers.
Re: Minor Blackmailing Adult for Photos
im pretty sure he has learned that lesson or at the very least will ask somebodys age first! any idea how much trouble could come out of this? Will the fact the the girl kept her age a secret and then blackmailed him play to his benefit at all? I did a little research, and it looks to me like she also commited several felonies by sending pics of herself.

if she sent any sexually explicit pics of herself, yes, she is guilty of trafficking in child porn.

No, No, NO.
Ya don't send explicit material without actually getting to know the person first. Is that such a novel concept these days?!
Cheese and rice.
Re: Minor Blackmailing Adult for Photos
well i guess atleast if she comes back and tries to demand anything else he can threaten her with her own felonies as well... What advice would you give if she contacts him again or tries to demand anything else?

i know i know. but the mistake was made. now were looking for help on fixing the screw up. hes learned from this mistake i assure you its not going to happen again
Re: Minor Blackmailing Adult for Photos
Well, the horse has already left the barn.
If she contacts him again, he needs to keep the emails but do NOT respond to her.
Re: Minor Blackmailing Adult for Photos
ill let him know. i think hes been taking every step possible to make it difficult for her to contact him. i know he deleted all his email addresses and blocked her facebook account, and blocked her phone number. i think hes just kind of hoping she will find some other guy she has a crush on and leave him the hell alone
Re: Minor Blackmailing Adult for Photos
Please tell me you do not actually believe she sent him pictures of herself. If it really was a she to begin with.
Re: Minor Blackmailing Adult for Photos
He needs to shred or fully overwrite his hard drive, if he still has pictures of her he is guilty of possessing child pornography. Depending on the state and the judge possession may or may not include copies he did not know about stored by his computer is cache or temp files or even as "deleted" files
