    Being Questioned for Criminal Trespass
In Texas, our 17 yr. old son announced this morning he has an interview with the Travis County sheriff's dept. for a possible crimanal trespass. He and 3 friends were caught by a homeowner (who took pictures) on or near his lake boat dock. OUr son says: one of the boys had a party 3 nights before this incident on this dock - he says he was not there. Maybe some things missing from that night (not the day in question). My question is - should he go talk to LE by himself? Should he tell on the friend right up front. The other 3 have already been interviewed and stuck to a story about just cutting through to a another friends house. Of course anyone who has a teenager can apprecitate this: I don;t know if I have whole story and just want to advise him in a protective way.

The possible charges relate to the incident where he was caught, or to the party?

There's no easy answer on this one. If it were my kid, I would probably tell him to exercise his right to remain silent. But if this really does revolve around something that happened when he wasn't there, I might be inclined to have him tell the police that he wasn't there, and express in relation to the inevitable fishing expedition about who else was there, who might have been there, etc., that, "I really don't know, because I wasn't there. I would only be guessing."
