Loss Prevention Abusing Employees
I work at a department store where loss prevention called me in for interview over an item taken out of a locked case. They lied and said they had me on video taking this item. I ask to see the video and they said it wasn't possible because it was a 'legal issue'. I was tormented for two hours with horrible accusations. I realized that if this company allowed this officer the power to lie in order to abuse me, what more could this officer do to me? This is FRAUD AND MISREPRESENTATION in order to obtain a false confession. My question is: What law permits any employer the ability to LIE to the employee in order to harass and beat them into submission? Yet, unless you are fired, no attorney will fight this inhumane treatment to employees? Where is the protection for good honest workers in America? Where is Justice? Or is it, that if you're a large company you are allowed to abuse your employees with the Labor Board ignoring the rights of workers of America? Who holds these companies accountable?
Re: Loss Prevention abusing employees
There are civil actions you can take or even going over the head of store manager. However you told us little other than they did not show you video! If you were not charged or fired then I would not worry other than LP acted unprofessional. They may well have you on video and no they dont have to show you! Personally when conductingan internal interview i often show video to subject if they question or deny my claims. Who interviewd you Lp or LPM/DLPM many LP's are not trained nor qualified to conduct such interviews! Thsi could be a case of an overzealous LP trying to prove something. If so he was wrong and not within many compnaies guidlelines for inerviews. Was there another person present? Was interviewer of same sex as you if not was there a member of opposite sex presnt. If you were not fired or charged with a crime then they have nothing. If thats the case you may want to request a meetign with HR over your mistreatment.
