My question involves criminal law for the state of: WASHINGTON
I was a dumbass and tried to steal a couple tanktops with a friend. I got detained and now sent a civil demand for 454.00 for the 54 merchandise. I don't have the money to pay this. How likely will Nordstrom sue me if I don't pay this civil demand?
You would have to ask them but I suspect they would have no hesitation in suing you. Once they do that, if they obtain a judgment, that judgment will end up on your credit report. You will likely have to pay legal fees as well but I have not checked that specifically.
If you really don't have the money, I suggest you call them and speak with them to see if you can work out a payment plan. Lack of communication will not help you.
And by the time they sue you and get the judgment....the amount will have significantly increased and will also include their lawyers fees.....
Best to call and workout a payment plan now.....
