Old Abuse Brought Up
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: New York
Over a year ago my son was burned on the fingers we did not seek medical treatment being as the burn was not bad. We did keep it clean and kept an eye on it. This happened in the state of Wyoming like I said over a year ago. We moved here about 2 months ago. My daughter got made at my husband and my self and went to school saying that she hates us and don't want to live with us any more. Now they are bringing up the fingers getting burnt and that we didn't get him to the hospital and they are charging us with neglect and we are fighting get our kids back. So my question is how can they bring that stuff up and use it against us if it was in another state and over a year ago?

Re: Old Abuse Brought Up
How did the burn occur? You described this as being about "old abuse" - are you telling us that the burns resulted from an act of abuse?
What consequences exist because of the burn? Physical or psychological?
If you abuse your child causing burn injuries, then avoid seeking medical care in order to cover up the act of abuse, that's relevant as to whether the state should take action to protect your children. Even if the abuse occurred a year ago. The rest depends upon the actual facts.

Re: Old Abuse Brought Up
Exactly HOW were the child's fingers burned? Someone DID something to the child, causing the burns? Someone wasn't properly supervising the child and the child then did something to burn themselves? The facts matter.
