Harboring a 17 Year Old Runaway in California
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: California. Hi I'm 17 and I want to runaway. I was wondering if it is illegal and if anything would happen to the family I want to stay with? Also, I turn 18 in a few months and my boyfriend is 22, I was also wondering if he could get in trouble? We have been together for a few months now and I don't want anything to happen to him

...and the reason you can't hang on for those "few months" is...?
Re: 17 Year Old Runaway in California
My parents try too hard to control me and I'm sick of it. I realize its only a few months but I want out now. Also you didn't answer my second question about my boyfriend....or any of my questions for that matter

Are you miranda00 trying to ask another question about avoiding the "cross country move" from another, albeit still obvious, screen name?

Why? Do you know what happens to runaways, and the odds of them being victimized in very horrific ways?
And the reason you cannot wait a few months until you are 18 is ...???

Yes, the family you want to stay with can go to jail and have any minor children they care for removed from their care and custody. And, since I suspect you intend to live with a love interest, a great many additional charges could also be applied.

Then wait until you are 18 years old and you can leave your home with whatever your parents let you leave with and you and he can struggle through life on your own ... at least until you split up (and, the odds are, you will split).
If you want to keep everyone out of trouble, then wait the few months until you are an adult.
Re: 17 Year Old Runaway in California
At minimum, he can be charged with harboring a runaway. If he is in another state, he could be charged with violating the Mann Act. If you love him the way you profess, you won't want him to have a criminal record hindering his ability to get a job his entire life.
