    Internet Harassment Charges
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Wisconsin

I just joined an online dating site. I have no pictures up yet.

I messaged a woman making fun of her weight (stupid, I know). We went back and forth poking fun at each other. At one point, she told me to "go die."

I googled her name, and found her address, and sent it to her, just to kind of scare her. I made no threats along with the address.

    This is what ensued:

I have contacted a lawyer, and hopefully will hear back tomorrow, as today is Sunday. I have a clean record.

Is she serious? Does she have any charge she can bring against me? If so, when will I hear from the police?

    Thank you.

What the hell is wrong with you? Did you eat a bowl of stupid for breakfast this morning, and wash it down with a glass of idiot?

I can't imagine WHY, when you're clearly SUCH a CATCH.

I dunno, is she? How are we supposed to know?

She very well could have grounds to have you brought up on harassment charges, depending on what exactly you sent. If she does, the cops will get to you eventually. If you're very, very, VERY lucky, the police will decline to investigate, but don't count on it. If she feels threatened enough and raises enough of a ruckus, you could be in some serious trouble.

Let me give you some advice: Get off the internet until you can learn to behave like a civilized adult who doesn't feel the need to "scare" strangers after being a jackass about said stranger's physical attributes.

I agree it was very mean and pointless, but all the information was publically available.

You're right, it was mean and pointless. Additionally, it was immature and asinine.

Why on earth would you join a dating site just to make fun of people? What, are you 12 years old???

    Amazing ... simply, amazing.

I'm sure that will be a great comfort to you when you're cooling your heels in jail.
