    Employee Theft from Walmart
My question involves criminal law for the state of: OK

I was a temporary employee of Walmart. On 3/27 I got drunk on my lunch shift. i called in sick for rest of shift. later i went in store and place a $5 6 pack of beer in a bag and walked out, showing my earlier receipt. I repeated the act one more time.
After sobering up I felt really guilty.
I called in sick everyday since then and assume that I have been fired.
I went back to the store on 3/29 to make some purchases and to see if I would get called to the back. Nothing happened and I have not been back since.

What can I expect? Are the police going to show up at my door at anytime? i am sure I was seen on video.

I have thought about going back, confessing, and paying... but I really dont want to go to jail...

What should I do? What will likely happen?

I forgot to mention, I live in a different town. I dont know if that matters or not.

    Stay out of that store.

You are most likely fired. If not for stealing, then for calling in sick for so many days without a doctors note. Don't even try to file for Unemployment- the store can bring up the theft issue and may also file criminal charges.

Next piece of advice: AA. When you have to get drunk during lunch, when you have to steal alcohol....you have a problem.

And yes, the police can come knocking anytime....

    Thanks for the advice.
I have been thinking of going to a hospital for the alcoholism.

how likely is it that they will send the police after me?

I would check into a rehab sooner rather than later.

Odds of the police coming after you....really hard to say. The store does have 1-2 years (varies by state) to press charges. Just totally avoid all WalMarts and Sam's Clubs for a good hour-drive radius for a long time.......
