    Am I Able to Get Emancipated if I Don't Have a Job but Plan to in the Near Future
    My question involves juvenile law in the State of: North Carolina

    I am 16 I've been verbally and mentally abused by my step dad he is not drunk when either occurs he just snaps at the slightest thing. I don't have a job but I go to an early college high school and plan plan to get one soon do i have the ability to be emancipated if so how should I go about doing it?

    Abuse is never a reason to be emancipated - if you're being abused, you need to notify child protective services in your area.

    I don't understand how we keep getting all these young kids who don't like their parents rules, think they can make it by themselves, yet are not smart enough to research emancipation laws for their state, which are posted all over the internet.

    Emancipation is NEVER granted to a minor who is unable to pay 100% of the costs of his support. NO reason is good enough for emancipation if you cannot pay for your own rent, (100% of the market rate for rent in your area), utilities, food, clothing, transportation, insurance, medical care, staples, school fees and supplies, cell phone, internet, and all the other incidentals of life, AND have a proven history of doing so.

    Can you do that?

    Emancipation is not and never was intended to be a means for a minor to move out. It was and is intended to be a means by which to give legal protections to those minors who, for reasons outside their own control, found themselves living on their own.
