How Would I Go About Being Emancipated
My question involves guardianship in the State of: Indiana
So I need help quick. (I'm new to this site so forgive me if I'm doing this wrong or if I'm giving too many details, I'm in desperate need of help.) Anyways, I'm fifteen almost sixteen; a year ago my dad (lives in California) sent me here to Indiana to live with my mom. My mom has no rights to me and wasn't even supposed to have contact with me without police supervision or something along that line. When he sent me here he told me I was to tell people I was with my grandma; well after he sent me here he had no contact with me until just recently. (Which is much over a year now.) Since I've lived here I got pregnant and while I was pregnant my mom and her husband left me here with no saying when I stayed with my boyfriend for the weekend. Me and my boyfriend gave our baby up for adoption to his sister its an open adoption. I see her every other weekend. My dad gave my boyfriends guardian temporary guardianship of me but now all of a sudden after school ends he wants me to come back and leave my daughter and my boyfriend/fiance. Couldn't I press charges against him for abandonment? How could I get emancipated? No one will hire me right now because I'm 15 or because I don't have or know my social security number. So its hard to find a job right now but I could easily get on tanif (I'm not sure if that's how its spelled) food stamps and my friends father works with government housing and offered to help me. I can be completely independant I know how to take care of myself 100% with no problem I have transportation I go to school I have goals. The whole time I lived with my mom I practically lived on my own and took care of my newborn baby brother and my one year old baby brother. How would i go about getting emancipated in my situation?
Re: How Would I Go About Being Emancipated
You lost any chance at emancipation the moment you got pregnant. That tells the court that you need much MORE, not less, supervision. You are incapable of completely providing for yourself, much less a baby. Relying on taxpayers to support you and your child is NOT being totally SELF reliant, which is one of the ABSOLUTE necessities before a court will even consider emancipation, so you're not even close to eligible on at least TWO counts. Self reliant means that you have enough money of your OWN, without anyone else's help, to pay your own rent, utilities, medical expenses, health insurance, and ALL other necessities of life. You are nowhere close. There are thousands of other threads on emancipation here. Read through a dozen or so of them, and you'll understand why you're not a candidate.

Simple answer. You wouldn't.

Read this. Not one word of what you wrote is relevant to emancipation (at least, not in a way that helps you). If you believe you are being neglected, you may notify protective services.
