Ex-Boyfriend Used My Credit Cards to Pay His Business Expenses
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of:
My ex-boyfriend's business went into trouble since end of 2008. He used one of my credit cards to pay his supplier without my consent end of 2008 but promised he would pay off. Since then, he used marriage to induce me to do balance transfer for him, the total amount was more than 50k before any interest and charges. He paid the minimum amount initially, but later stopped paying saying that interest rate was absurdly high. Now all these credit card accounts went to collection agency. My credit was completely destroyed. Before this, my credit score was 780! Now i only have two credit cards left with only a credit limit of $2000. I didn't know what to do except for avoiding it. Now I would like to know what my options are.
He is Indonesian and has green card. He went back home and found a job there, but his stores are still running. They are in Wisconsin.
All my credit cards that he used were either new or the ones I didn't use. So the transaction were most from him and to him.
I am wondering if I could file law suit against him and how? I do not live in Wisconsin now. Please help me.

Meaning what, that he promised to marry you if you transferred a balance from his credit card to yours?

If you are saying, in short, "I loaned money to my ex-boyfriend when we both lived in Wisconsin, and he did not pay me back," you would sue him in Wisconsin. You will need to serve him with the lawsuit, which could be interesting if he's now living in Indonesia.

You can always file for bankruptcy. It will ruin your credit, but it will eliminate the debt. Bankruptcy isn't as bad as people say. Within a year you'll be getting credit card offers again. You could also settle the debt. They could settle for less then 25% of what is owed. Get a book on credit card debt settlement. You have more power than you know.
