Does a Child's Name Automatically Change When the Mother Remarries
My question involves name change laws in the State of: Arkansas

When I get married will my daughters last name be changed as mine would be?

My fiancee is not the birth father, however he is the daddy. He loves and takes care of her just like shes his own. The birth father has never seen her and has chose not to be in her life period, he also is not on the birth certificate or listed as the birth father on any documents at all. She has my last name and Im the only parent listed on any document.

    Re: How Does This Work
Absolutely NOT. Only the bride gets a free name change in Arkansas marriages.

If you want to change the child's name it will take a court action. Absent the consent of the child's legal father, you're going to have a daunting time doing it.
