Caught Shoplifting in North Carolina, First Time Offender
My question involves criminal lawth for the state of: North Carolina.
I was caught shoplifting a month ago and my background is clean and the officer noticed that
I am not from nc so of course i am unfamiliatr with the laws. My question is, what should i expect
In court this monday ? Will i go to jail? The value of the merchandise was under $35.

You won't get jail most likely, your sentence will be suspended if you do community service. Expect substantial fines/costs involved.
I'm not sure there's an organized diversion program down here. You would be well advised to speak with an attorney in the county in which you are charged. If you are indigent and can not afford one, ask for one at your court appearance.
