Vandalism and Mischief: Criminal Mischief Charges

My question involves criminal law for the state of: BC Canada. I was caught taking security tags off clothing at The Hudson Bay Company. I was detained for six hours while waiting for the police. After the police came they said I would either be doing restorative justice (at the victim's choice) or I would be criminally charged. I am only 16 and this is my first time being charged. What can I expect to happen in this situation since I'm assuming this will be going to criminal court? They also said they would be sending me a civil demand letter. Should this be paid or will it be paid in restitution from the criminal trial? Thank you so much for helping me. Since I am a minor would I qualify for legal aid? Thank you so much guys.
