Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
I got a speed ticket yesterday that was a computer print out with the wrong time and wrong race (I am asian he put white). I was having lunch with my family and neighbor and I can proof at the time of the ticket I was at the restaurant.
I would think I should get a dismissal as:
1. Cop can even read time or enter time, and he can operate radar correctly? We all know what is easier so how can he be certain 100% the radar was operate right?
2. Pretty easy to tell asian from a white guy.
Advice, Thanks,

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
Your car lic# and your driver License number and other info will be on ticket as well as your signature it will be tough to overcome that. white/asian "may" be considered teh same and perhaps to officer you did not look asian! I would say you have some arguements but you will have to explain to judge how officer got other info I mentioned if you were not there!

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
Not all cars, but a great deal of them, have cameras installed for thier protection, so if the officer did, then you are on video as the one being pulled over, but stranger things have happened. If it were me, I would not fight it, but it is you, not me, that we are talking about.:)

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
I am not saying I am not there, but why the cop is off so much on easy things and wouldn't it be possible if he can't do easy things right (telling race and time) he could have screw up on the radar.

I see your point. As has been stated many times on these forums, minor errors on a traffic ticket don't usually mean dismissal. However, there are exceptions. Read this post. It may give you an idea as to how to proceed with your case.

If that's the best advice you can give, why not just keep it to yourself.
Good luck,

You didnt read prior advice! He doesnt have much to fight with and angering a judge by fighting a traffic ticket will not help. Yes tha tis best advice why because it will cause him the less amount of problems! He knows he sped he knows he was wrong but wants to weasle out of it!

Unlike you (26 posts - so far - in two days) I (250 posts in two years) spend MOST of my time reading. It is your use of the offensive term "weasle out" that I take exception to. There is absolutely no reason to be disrespectful to anyone who has come to these boards to get some help or a little guidance. I haven't seen anyone come here to find out how to pay DOUBLE their fine or get THREE times the points on their records. Most people who ask questions here are trying to figure out how to avoid fines, points, insurance increases, or mitigate those factors.
If you have some advice, by all means share it. But do so in a respectful manner. Then you, too, will gain more respect.

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
I call them as I see them and this person did speed. He is asking question to get out paying fine for committing a crime (infraction) I could have used many words other than one I used which would have been more offensive. My post count means nothing I just got here your number means nothing. Read my signature line it applies to any question. Any question has many possible answers looking for just one is silly! I rspect all views even ones I disagree with this includes your attack on me and your assumption that my post numbers suggest I dont knw what I am talking about and your post numbers do! I can agree to disagree with you but my perception of the post (which you disagree with) is that this person wants out of speeding ticket he earned! Where would you draw line of this type of action! I admit a speeding ticket is hardly serious but where is line? I stand by my opinion! Its just my opinion it means nothing to anyone who chooses for it not to. I could have been less agressive yes and for that I am sorry but not for my view on topic. I stand by my post and signature. "If you dont want to hear the answer dont ask the question"

That's all I was trying to say. And I apologize for the implication that you're simply trying to get your post count up. I didn't mean it in that respect, but I see how you might take it that way.

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
Now now guys, you have proven both sides, this is the good part of a forum, it is when you go on and on, it is deemed not ok (I am assuming here lol)! Poster, if I thought for a second there was a chance to get out of it, I would say so, but it is hard to prove a radar wrong. Please read the link provided to see if there is a way out of it (I myself have not checked the link). I do not know how old you are, and I am aware of traffic court lowering points on your insurance, or getting tickets reduced (maybe dissapear?), please check on this. I also know that if money is the issue, that if you plead guilty, and show up in court, a judge will most likely lower your fines. Good luck to you! Someone else may come about that knows more than all of us, so stay tuned for more possible answers.

Heeeeeere's Soups!!!
Firstly, you state that you did in fact get a speeding ticket! Soooooo, regardless of the time/race error the basic underlying fact of the matter is that you did get popped for speedin'......own up to the fact it was you and take care of business. This ain't rocket science for cryin' out loud.
Secondly, the cop made a mistake(s) in data entry. I reckon you've never made a data entry error in your life? And, was it nighttime or daytime? Asians and whites are a tad hard to differentiate at night.
Just keep it simple and 'face-the-music' and take care of the ticket. And maybe think about stocking up on some personal responsibility next time the opportunity arises!
The preceeding was approved by souperdave and is just MHO!

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
"Own up to it"?..."Face the music"? I don't think that's what it's about at all. The idea isn't to 'cleanse the soul'; the idea is to beat the rap.
If everyone wanted to "face the music", lots of lawyers would be out of a job...(and O.J wouldn't be 'teeing up' about right now.;)

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
If that was your point, I'm confused. I thought you were of the opinion that if he's guilty, he has an obligation to keep quiet and pay the fine. I don't think that's the case...at all!

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
It appears that ticket holder is trying to avoid paying a ticker he earned!

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
Barry, the "Panther" fellow has a different agenda than do the rest of us and he makes an effort to help people make the best of a bad situation... by simply giving up and accepting their government status of being accused of being guilty.....As we both know, this is not what this forum is all about....
Sometimes people are guilty..sometimes the're not...let's sort it out and do for ourselves, the very best that we can. To do less....is criminal!
-
Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
If encouraging our laws be obey is my agenda I plead guilty. If I feel we all should pay for our wrong doings again I plead guilty! Where speeding ticket are minor where is line? Do we let rapist go free? Murders?, pett theft? Where is line? there should be no line! If same speeder hit your child and sam emistake was made on citation should he go free? My issue was a failure to atone for wrongdoing and instead look for a way out!

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
Your response leaves me confused and no longer interested.

Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
I am not here to tell people how to break the law and get away with it, I am here to tell them my honest opinion, and my honest opinion is, what mistakes were made is not enough to say he is to incompetant to work the radar. Your reasons for being here, are different than mine, it is not to say, if you are smart enough to make a good cop look bad, for your own stupidity, then so be it. I guess we will have to agree to dissagree on this one.
-
Re: Speed ticket with wrong race and wrong time
I guess Turbo and Panther are free to express their opinions. Chucky, you and I are also free to continue to try to help where we can. I, too, have told people to accept responsibility for their actions. That wasn't my issue with Panther. I was concerned with the disrespectful tone he took. However, he apologized, which takes a big person, so I'm good with it.
In any case, I think this dead horse has been beaten enough. Time to close this thread.
