Correctable Offense in California from 400 Miles Away
My question involves traffic court in the State of California.
I received a ticket in Los Angeles for 4000(a) (expired registration) and 16025 (a) (no proof of insurance). I dealt with the registration, and can now provide proof of insurance (I just didn't have it in the car at the time) but I can't figure out who to take my ticket to to get it "fixed". I don't know if I need to drive down to LA, or if my local PD in the Richmond, CA area can help me, and my local PD wasn't sure about the legality.
Any thoughts? I searched the forum and couldn't quite find another post that applied. Thanks!

the ticket does not tell you which court to go to?

16025 (a) (no proof of insurance).
V C Section 16025 Failure to Exchange Mandatory Information at Scene of Accident is not a correctable violation. This section is cited at a time when one is involved in an accident and is mandated by law to exchange information with the other driver. If this is the case and you did not have proof of insurance at the time, the court could care less if you can provide it later.
The provision that allows for a dismissal upon providing proof to the court is under VC 16028(e) and it only applies to VC 16028(a):
16028 (e) A person issued a notice to appear for a violation of subdivision (a) may personally appear before the clerk of the court, as designated in the notice to appear, and provide written evidence of financial responsibility in a form consistent with Section 16020, showing that the driver was in compliance with that section at the time the notice to appear for violating subdivision (a) was issued. In lieu of the personal appearance, the person may submit by mail to the court written evidence of having had financial responsibility at the time the notice to appear was issued. Upon receipt by the clerk of that written evidence of financial responsibility in a form consistent with Section 16020, further proceedings on the notice to appear for the violation of subdivision (a) shall be dismissed.
