Shoplifting from Shaws Grocery Store
My question involves criminal law for the state of:
Hi my name is Jim I am a college student who made the mistake of taking a round of cheese from shaws grocery store in MA. I am deeply apologetic and my actions where dispicable, i have lost sleep from this the past week and have felt physically sick. I am graduating this year.
I was stopped by the lp officer who was relaxed he took the cheese, made me sign a form. He said I would not be arrested, neither would the cops be called. He asked if i had done this before and i said once or twice, he informed me i would be getting a bill for about 25o approx which i assume is a civil demand.
Since the police were not informed im assuming if i pay, i can put this behind me as i dont think they will further pursue this for 12 dollars if i pay asap?
Re: Sholifting from Shaws
If the police were not called at the time you were in custody of the LP, I think it's safe to say they will not be called. I think if you pay the Civil Demand it will be over. Don't pay and they may sue you in civil court.

Thank you, it was an eye opening experience, im 22 and obviously need to grow up and not take everything for granted, i appreciate the direct response.
A civil demand does not show up on a record due to it being of civil nature, not criminal nature, correct?
