No Contact for Over 12 Years
My question involves child support in the State of: TX

I was involved in a relationship over 12 years ago where the women got pregnant. We were broken up before the child was born. I'm not listed on the birth certificate. I did sign an acknowledgement of paternity although I never had a DNA test done.

Shortly after the child was born, the mother moved away taking him with her. I have no idea where he is but have continued to pay child support for the bast 12 years. I was contacted by the mother in 2006 to terminate my prenatal rights because she was getting re married. I sent all the forms to her to do so and have never heard from her since. I’ve tried on many occasions to get a hold of her but all my contact information is no longer valid.

I'm not looking for any reinburstment, I just want to stop paying. What can I do. What steps do I need to take to terminate my rights as a parent and stop paying childsupport?

    Thank you in advance.

You cannot do this without Mom's consent.

Texas IS one of the (very) few states which allows for a voluntary TPR if BOTH parents consent, even without a stepparent adoption. But if Mom can't be found or wants no part of it, it's just not going to happen.
