Discrimination Based on Arrest
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Missouri
I read a job ad online and it said that they want to talk to people who haven't been arrested in the last 7 years. Isn't this discrimination? The job is located in Missouri and I live in Missouri.
Re: Discrimination Based on Arrest
Sure it is discrimination. Depending on the type of job, it may be a perfectly valid reason.
Re: Discrimination Based on Arrest
If the job ad includes that notice, then it would run afoul of current EEOC guidelines. I don't see a specific prohibition based on Missouri law, but you can inquire here.
