Do I Qualify for Emancipation

Hi, my name is Lauren and I'm 13 years old. I will be turning 14 in July. I currently live with my mom and dad and my little sister. I don't provide for myself at the time, however I would like to start soon. My parents aren't giving me permission to be emancipated, can the court give me permission without my parents consent? In the state of California, what are the qualifications you need to be emancipated?

You will not get emancipated. Period.

What compelling reason do you have to be emancipated? How will you convince a court that emancipation is the best alternative for you?

There are other options if you do not get along with your parents, but emancipation is extremely rare and granted in only very limited cases - and rarely for anyone as young as 14 (i've never heard of it at all at that age).

Not gonna happen.

One of the requirements in CA is that you have your parents' permission. NO court will emancipate a 14 year old against her parents wishes. NO court will emancipate a minor of any age who cannot provide every single penny of what it takes to support herself, while simultaneously going to school and getting better than average grades.
