If You Don't Qualify for Emancipation Can You Just Run Away
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Nevada. I am 17 years old, engaged to my fiance who moved and currently lives in California. My mother is a abusive and heavy alcoholic, she has very high blood pressure problems, she drinks A LOT. When she drinks she says I am free to leave and move out, and she doesnt want me hear and she also physically abuses me. I am currently employed and about to graduate high school. I have read a little bit on emancipation and It says I must be able financially stable, married, and not live at home. I would like to know my options because this is getting out of control, her friends and ex husband have tried to get her to stop and she wont. I would like to move in with my girlfriend so I can get away from the physical mental and emotional abuse. Please help?

No judge in any jurisdiction is going to emancipate a child so that the child can go live with a girlfriend. You didn't say how old the girlfriend is and/or if she is living with her parents.

Further, you will likely be 18 before the legal process concludes. I recommend you just wait it out.

You do not appear to meet the requirements for emancipation in NV. You are NOT currently living away from home, I suspect you are not sufficiently employed such that you could support yourself on your income, and the courts will NOT emancipate you so that you can run off to shack up with your girlfriend.

If you are being physically assaulted, call the police and child services. If you are being neglected or abused you may also call child services and/or the police. They can help you get to safety, but they will not grant you emancipation so you can run off and play house.

If you are 17 then you have less than 12 months before you become an adult. At age 18 you can then make whatever decision you choose - good or bad - and you can move to CA to live with your girlfriend, get married, shack up, or whatever. ... Now, if your girlfriend is UNDER 18 then you face a slew of new (legal) problems if you come to CA and hook up or fool around.
