I don't think that's far enough to make any distance arguments - although you could try. Laser/radar detectors vary by state. I highly doubt they are as effective as they claim.
Occasionally, you'll see LIDAR readings in excess 2k feet. Even then, it can be difficult to make a distance argument. There's usually a "recommended range" under 1200 ft, it's really up to whichever judge you get that day if they'll listen.
