How to Change Status from L1 to H1 Using an Expired H1
I am currently in US on L1.
I have an H1-B with a previous company which I never used and is expired now.
I also have GC filed and i-140 approved.
I am planning to switch my company. I have 2 years left in the total of 6 years visa duration.
My wife is currently on L2 but I want to move her to a student visa rather than H-4 as she is doing MS here.
What is the fastest and best way to do this?

Re: Quickest Way of L1 to H1 Transfer Using an Expired H1
Yourt new employer must file for H-1B; if they do it in the priority processing (additional fee required) with a COS, you will receive a response in 15 days. You may begin working upon receipt of the approval notice.

I am currently on L-1B with Company 'A' and am switching to another company 'B' which has filed a COS to H-1B (based on an earlier H-1B I hold).
If the new H-1B approval came on 28th and I was working with the company 'A' till 31st and joined company 'B' on 4th.
Technically I am out of status from 28th to 4th.
Will this cause problem in future when I move to another company on H-1B or will it create a problem when my GC is filed?
