Time Needed for Adjustment Papers
Hello Everyone,
I am planning on marrying my girlfriend who is on a b1/b2 visa but her plane departs on the 12 and the maximum she can stay is to the 23 (as stated on the i94). I need to know if it is possible to send out all the adjustment papers before the 23rd or if she needs to go back home and start the process for the fiancee visa. The birth certificate should be arriving soon and after that i would need to have it translated, get a license and then a marriage certificate. I am in the process of filling out the adjustment papers.
I greatly appreciate your help.
Thank you
Re: Time Needed for Adjustment Papers
When is the wedding? Once you are married, the fiance visa is not an option.
Re: Time Needed for Adjustment Papers
I am still waiting for the birth certificate to come in throught the mail and after that i hope get things done as quick as possible (translation, License) to get the Marriage certificate. What options do i have if we get married and she returns on the 12, what papers would be required?
Re: Time Needed for Adjustment Papers
I do not understand the need for the birth certificate to get married? My state would accept a passport for ID.
She would need to go for consular processing to receive her green card and not reenter until it was received. The wait is less than a year if you are a US citizen; in most cases it is significantly less.
I suggest you consult an attorney; there are options that involve an illegal presence that I do not believe are appropriate to discuss on a legal forum.
