At What Age Can a Child Legally Leave Home
My question involves guardianship in the State of: Louisiana
Don't quite understand how anyone got 17 is legal age to leave.
I have read the entire chapter on minor rights, and emancipation. Found nothing but the age of majority. Which is 18.

Re: Legal Age to Leave Home Louisiana
And you would be right. The legal age to leave home without parental permission is AT LEAST 18 in all states.
Re: Legal Age to Leave Home Louisiana
I am just extremely confused and aggravated by the amount of forums and articles that says its legal. Now i will say i have heard from the mouth of a Louisiana officer that at the age of 17 they don't have legal rights to retrieve the child. Would that be because of the difference in civil and criminal laws?
Re: Legal Age to Leave Home Louisiana
In certain jurisdictions, in some states, the law is poorly written. Due to the way the law is written, some law enforcement officers are reluctant to return home an unwilling 17 year old, as long as that 17 year old is safe and the parents know where they are. That does not mean that the 17 year old has acted legally in leaving home. If the parents want to take it far enough, that kid WILL come home.
