Minor Caught Drinking, First Time in Trouble With the Law
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio

I'm 19 years old and recently just got caught underage drinking at a small party in Ohio. I've never been in trouble before. The cops came to the house and I was hiding in the bathroom, some people keep telling me that i should say i was just going to the bathroom. When they asked me to take a breathalyzer i said no because i know i don't have to and it's my right. Should I act like i wasn't drinking or just be honest? I've never been to court before so i'm really nervous i'll say the wrong thing and i don't have a lawyer. Help me please! :grumpy:

Re: First Time in Trouble Underage Drinking, Plea Guilty or Not
This isn't something you ought to be deciding based on a comment by strangers on the internet. :)

I presume the offense doesn't include possible jail time, otherwise I'd tell you to discuss with the public defender. At any rate, while you may not have a lawyer, you're free to consult one.

You aren't obligated, even if you were drinking, to plead guilty ... or to otherwise admit to or say a damn thing.
