    My Landlord Has Given Me 30 Days to Move Out Due to Him Selling the Property
    My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Georgia

    I moved into this apartment about a month ago with my wife and son, this morning my landlord came and said we had 30 days to move out due to him selling the property to someone. In the papers we signed it was stated that the lease began November 1, 2012 and ended November 1, 2013. In the same paragraph that stated the dates it also says, "Regardless of term, lessor shall have the right to terminate the lease by giving lessee 30 days written notice at the expiration of which time lessee agrees to vacate the premises." Does this mean I have no other choice? Also when I talked to him he I asked about my deposit and I was told that he nor the new owner would give us anything back. Is there anything I can do?


    I just think that it isnt right since I had to go through all the trouble of moving in and all the money I had to pay to get lights cut on, water and other things. I might have spent well over 500$ (not counting deposit and first month rent) just to be able to stay here one month!

    Did you read the lease before you rented? That's not a clause I would have agreed to, in what was intended to be a one-year lease.

    If your landlord is ending your lease so he can sell the property, and you agree to move, your landlord needs to refund your deposit. Why does he think he can keep your deposit?

    Is the property in fact scheduled to close within the notice period?
