Moving Out at 17
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Moving out at 17 in the state of texas. I am 17 years old and i just have been having a hard time agreeing with my dad. He has been more than strict with me lately and he had me cut off from contact with anybody for a whole month, even through my birthday. Lately living in this house with him has been hard and i have been considering leaving and living with my 18 year old girlfriend who's family is more than willing to take me in. I was wondering if it would be legal for me to leave my house with out having to go to court?

Re: Moving Out at 17
Nope. You and many other children dislike rules set by their parents. In fact, her parents could end up being criminally charged with a misdemeanor for assisting you.
§ 25.06. HARBORING RUNAWAY CHILD.

Re: Moving Out at 17
You can ask the local constabulary if they will attempt to make you go back home if you run away. As the juvenile court would not have jurisdiction over you, it's possible that the police will tell you that they won't get involved. It's also possible that the police in your county would not mind dragging your sorry posterior back home every time your parents called them - you're a minor until you turn 18.
