Fare Evasion Citation on Caltrain
My question involves criminal law for the state of California (Santa Clara County)
I got a citation for fare evasion in caltrain last week. The ticket said it's an infraction. According to other posts, it's a strict liability crime and if I don't have proof of payment then I am guilty. There is no point in defending the case in front of judge. I am ready to pay fine but would this incident go on any record. (Criminal, public, etc). I dont have any criminal not even traffic violation.
I am worried whether employers would be able to find this thing on background search. Finally I want to know whether fare evasion is a crime of moral turpitude. I am on visa here and don't want any kind of problems.
Thanks
Re: Fare Evasion Citation on Caltrain
A first time offense is not a big deal. Pay it and don't screw up again. Your visa should be safe.

Talk to a lawyer about whether you might be eligible for a deferral.

Can I get a deferral for infraction charges in CA?

Anyone? Please help me. I don't have money to spend on lawyers.
Thanks
