I suggest you show them this post, so they can see how you feel about all the sacrifices they have made over the years for you. I am sure it is you they will think is a real jerk.
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
Suck it up for 6 more months.
Now...the warning. Getting your own place is not going to be as easy as you think. You have no job, no credit history...and most likely, no savings account.
guess what you need to get an apartment? A job....money for the Security Deposit (plan on First Months, Last Months, and an additional month for Security Deposit). Do some research on dorm apartments/on campus and see what they run in your area, but expect to put down $1500 to move in. Since you have never rented and have no credit history....you will need a co-signer.....
Then you need utilities...heat, electric, water/trash/sewer....add $100+ to your rent.
Transportation - how will you get to/from work and college?
Staples: Toothpaste, floss, deodorant, soap, laundry detergent, dish detergent, cleaning supplies, trash bags....
You need money for the laundrymat.
You need money for food.
You will have other stuff to purchase - pots and pans, a couple of dishes, eating and cooking utensils, bath and dish towels. A plunger.
Get a job, you will need a little money for work clothing. I just spent $47 today on a pair of black khaki's and a white dress shirt for mine....and that was onsale AND with a 20% off coupon.
You have six months to figure out how to do all this....I suggest a trip to the store to start planning costs, and looking at apartment guides and CraigsList, and develop a realistic budget.
Oh...and before I forget...your parents don't have to let you take any of your clothing or furniture from the home, unless it is something you purchased and have a receipt for (and that might require small claims court)...so plan on buying a bed and other necessities like that. I suggest Goodwill and Salvation Army to get some cost figures.
