Getting Out of My Parents House
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: ohio
i am 17 1/2. my parents arent that great. neither of them have a job. i have my HS diploma, and am currently in a community college. can i legally move out? im sick of them putting me down and treating me like crap everyday! HELLLP! I NEED OUT OF HERE!
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
Legally, No. They might, just to get rid of you though, have you asked?
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
Yes, you absolutely can. The very minute you turn 18, you can go anywhere you want, no one can stop you, and no one is responsible for you (financially or otherwise). Until then, you live where your parents say you live. If they say you can move out now, then you can. If they say you cannot move out now, then you can't.
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
You can legally move out in six months, or with your parents' permission.
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
so theres nothing I can do? emancipation? they wont let me drive. they wont let me get a job. and they wont let me live in a dorm!!!! :(
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
Yet they continue to feed, clothe and house you. What abuse!!! Call the ACLU!!!
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
No. There is nothing you can do. You do not qualify for emancipation. They are not required to allow you to drive, get a job, or live in a dorm, and even if you otherwise qualified, which you do not, a judge is not going to emancipate you on that account.
When you are 18, you can leave. Until then, unless you have your parents' permission to leave, you stay. End of story. Period, full stop. No exceptions. No matter how many, but-what-ifs you come up with.
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
you dont have to be a jerk! damn man!
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
That's Ma'am, to you.
And I'm not being a jerk, I've just answered enough of these posts to know what comes next.
Re: Getting Out of My Parents House
Even if you HAD a job, a car, and were already living on your own with your parent's permission, the chances that your case would get before a judge, that the court would be able to get the evaluations from school, parents, your criminal background, and the MANY things a judge looks at before even considering emancipation within the 6 months before your 18th birthday are virtually zero.
