Money in Bank Account After Bankruptcy Discharge
My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Nevada
Hell all,
Just got discharged from Ch7 (10/24/2012) and now I am trying to rebuild my credit.
Question #1. I want to open a secured credit card at my bank and need to deposit money in that account. That should be ok right?
Question #2. If some how I came up with a large chunk of money (winning from gambling, lotto or other) can I deposit the fund in the bank account. Will the trustee still check and try to question about my finance after the Ch7 discharged?
Thank you
Re: Money in Bank Account After Ch7 Discharged
Since it appears you have been hiding this money all along, I would say you better be able to document the "windfall".

Imaginary money you obtain post-discharge? Not a problem.
Real money you hid from the bankruptcy court in order to avoid paying your creditors? If the trustee or creditors learn of any such act of fraud, obviously there can be repercussions.

thank you very much for the reply. so you are saying that they may be monitoring my bank account?
Re: Money in Bank Account After Bankruptcy Discharge
It’s not illegal to get a bank account if you are an undischarged bankrupt or even a discharged bankrupt. The problem is, it’s difficult to find a bank that will do business with you.
Re: Money in Bank Account After Bankruptcy Discharge
You can keep put money in your bank but not excessive, as it may rise questions because you have just recovered from the debts. For a while there will be creditors who will be looking a close watch on you as they need there money back. Its better you give the excess money to your relatives or someone whom you can trust. It would take much time to rebuild your credit so stay clean and don't involve in any other activities.

Your BK is discharged? You can do anything you want.
The only cautionary thing I would say is if you happen to come into a large amount of money and bank it, be prepared to explain if, and a high if at that, ever audited through a trustee audit.
