Parents Say I Have to Take Psychotropic Medication or Move Out
My question involves a power of attorney in the state of: My question involves civil rights in the State of: Hopefully im under the right thread, I'm new to doing this. But i find the sitution im in very important. I really need the best detailed and most honest answers possible. Ok so i am 18 years old and i still live at home with my parents and im currently still in highschool. My mom and dad are forcing me to take a medication i don't need in my opion cause it is for people with depression and i am not depressed i have anxiety but haven't had it in three months even before i was forced to start taking this, also im being forced to take vyvvance which i feel is harmful to me bause i have all sorts of adverse side affects that even my doctor wont listen to me about and my parents don't care. They also force me to see a counselor that only sides with them and i dont even need or want to see a counselor but my mom is making me go see him out of punishment until i dot dis agree with her. Now my problem with all this lies within the fact that i said im done seeing the counselor and im done taking the medicine cause its harmful to me and my mom said if i dont take it all the stuff she promised me such as paying for my college and having a roof over my head would be gone and she would kick me out on the street cause i have no word in medical descions on myslef but she does and also she forced me to sign hippa and medical power of attorney over me and if i didnt she would kick me out of the house and not pay for college. I feel threatened to lose everything i have positive in my future if i don't apply to her threats to do what she wants and she wont even listen to me or my dad about my opionon and how it affects me the medicine that is negatively. Can i take legal action based off my health and being threatened and sue for damages to my health and if i take the road to leave and lose everything cause its in the best interest for my health and also for being threatned to sign a legal document over fear of losing what was promised to me as a hopful future?? Please i honestly need help.
Re: Is There a Possibility to Take Legal Action
You do not have to take the meds or allow mom to have a medical POA. If you want mom to pay for school and let you live in the house, apparently that is a couple of the conditions. It's your choice.
Re: Is There a Possibility to Take Legal Action
If you are 18, you are now learning about the compromises we must make as adults. My daughter must get A's or I refuse to pay for her college. You are free to quit school, live on the street and independently make your own decisions or live at mom n dads, finish high school, go to college with their assistance and follow the doctors medicine plan. Good Luck, however you decide.

T of Briton, "iwant" says it all. i have known you since before you were born. it is time that you stopped staring at yourself in the mirror and started looking out around at those who surround you who have so much less than you do. Reach out and give ALL of yourself to others less fortunate, and your worries will melt away. The help you need comes from helping others, as I have told you before.
