I was stupid and plead guilt to shoplifting because I was told that it would drop off my record after 7 to 10 year. I have been thru a messy divorce and have just started to try and get my life back on track after 7 years of fearing for my life and now I can not get a job. Because this is on my record. If anyone has information. Please help!! I'm at the end of my rope.

I've heard of instances in which you can get a misdemeanor conviction expunged from your record, so that you can legally answer "no" to that question about convictions on those job applications.

Yeah, that's true... your options would depend on what state you're in. Even the particular county that you committed the crime, and your luck in which court you get assigned to can seal your fate.
