    Hours Reduced With No Explanation
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: FL
ok, so the employer that i am with is difficult to say the least. but it the last week i have been asked to come in on days off (2without pay) to handle decoration issues.... i was hired as a full time employee, but got my hours cut to less then part time with no valid explanation.... worked signifigant overtime and then had my hours "adjusted" and the given as little as $10 cash for as much as 6 hours overtime and when i refuse to "clockout" have my hours earased altoghter...my employer has begun audio survaliance with no notification to employees or customers. oh and.. out of several employees i am the only one on payroll so i havent gotten a paycheck within a week of it being owed(even though i make it a point to remind them its due) to me in i dont know how long.... this is a small buinisness (less than 10 employees) so i dont know what to do....any advice???

Your employer can change your schedule.

If you are being paid less than minimum wage for hours worked, aren't being paid for hours worked, are having your records tampered with, aren't getting your paychecks, etc., make a wage complaint with the local department of the U.S. Department of Labor.

Florida has no state dol or agency that enforces wage and hour laws. You can file a wage claim/complaint with the federal dol or a small claims court action.

Your best bet might be a small claims court action. The federal dol will only enforce fed. min. wage for hrs. worked & OT. Fl. has a higher min. wage than federal & you might have even been making more than Fl. min. wage.

You ARE entitled to be paid for all hours worked, and overtime when you work more than forty hours in a week. Betty has given you the best option for being paid for time already worked.

You are NOT entitled by law to any particular number of hours per week, or to an explanation of why your hours are being cut.

You are NOT entitled by law to continue working when you've been told to clock out.
