Indecent Liberties Statute of Limitations
My question involves criminal law for the state of: WASHINGTON
Hi. I got wrongfully accused of touching a woman (over 18) in a sexual way. She lied and made up a story to get me in trouble. I was arrested and later on released and the case was "DISMISSED". My question for you is if I don't live in Washington anymore, does the statute of limitations still count down or no? I am not on the "run" or anything, just don't live there anymore.
I need to know because I want this behind me. It's been many years and I just found out that they have a little thing in their statutes laws that say if I am not a resident of WA the time countdown does not count? Even though it was dismissed, I would like the statute of limitations to expire because it was scary thing and I don't want it brought up again. Make sense?
Also what is the statue of limitations for Indicent Liberties by forcible compulsion (with an adult, not a minor) in the state of WA? I thought it was 7 years but now I read it it looks like 3 years?
If I live out of state is there anyway to get the statute of limitations over with or is this something that is going to haunt me? Please let me know because I read somewhere online that it is only for people "running" or a "suspect" that hasn't been charged. I was charged, but later released because it was all a big lie.
Thank you for any help you can offer. Can you please give me links from any info you give? Thank you so much!
Re: Indecent Liberties Statute of Limitations
do you know if it was dismissed with or without prejudice?
