Child Custody and Legal Responsibility of Parent
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Michigan
My 17 year old son was recently "kicked" out of his father's house, Judgement of Divorce specifies that he reside with his father. His father and I have joint legal custody. I can not have my son live with me (reasons are justified, believe me!). I assume he is living with a friend. Almost 2 weeks ago, my son received three misdemeanors from the police officier at his high school. What legal responsibility do I have regarding my son?
Re: Child Custody and Legal Responsibility of Parent
In what context? You have a legal duty to support your minor child. Your state has a statute that can create civil liability for certain of his intentional misconduct. The state can likely seek to collect money from you for the cost of detention, medical treatment, psychological care, etc., as long as he remains a minor....
