    Moving My Roommates Furniture
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Ohio

    Hello,

My roommate has stated that we (the other 4 roommates) are no longer allowed to use her furniture in our shared living room. She also refuses to move the furniture out of our home. I have living room furniture arriving soon and both outfits will not fit in the living room. If her furniture is still here, is there any legal reason that I cannot move it into the basement so that the rest of us can use our living room again?

why would she move her furniture out of the home she lives in?

We each pay the same amount of rent and should be able to use the shared spaces in our house equally. I presented the alternative to her furniture to let everyone use mine, instead of her throwing a fit whenever we have friends over and decide to watch tv.

It seems ridiculous to me that someone would move furniture into a shared space and expect that no one is going to sit on it. I am really just asking whether I can move her things if she will not

If I say yes, what will you do when she moves your furniture and puts hers back? This is a foolish argument with no winners.

You can both put the other's furniture in the basement and put yours in the main living space. Then they other can do the same thing. Every day until somebody moves out, you can move furniture up and down the stair until somebody just gets too tired to keep up the foolishness.

Each of you would be liable for any damage you caused to the other's furniture.

Unless you have some sort of agreement between the co-tenant, you have a problem without a solution.
