Ticket for Improper Lane Usage
My question involves traffic ticket for "improper lane usage" in the State of: Illinois
I got a traffic ticket on10/06/2012 at 8:38pm for "improper lane usage", because I hesitated if should I turn at the point for a just second while I drove only about 25/mph . I think the policeman exaggerated said he was behind me and I was almost hit him . Should I go to the court to tell judge about this or just pay $120 ticket?
Your help will be a greatly appreciated!!
Re: Ticket for Improper Lane Usage
Always contest a ticket if you can. There's a chance that the officer will not show up and your ticket will be dismissed. Under the Sixth Amendment your accusers are required to show up, in this case, it'd be the officer who gave you the ticket.
At the very least, you may be able to get the ticket dismissed after completing a traffic safety course. This way, the ticket won't be on your record. You'll still have to pay for the course, but it's cheaper in the long run. There are whole guides about this stuff online, here's one that's pretty good: http://lawblog.**********.com/2011/0...-actually-win/
