    Misdemeanor Possession of Valium
My question involves criminal law for the state of: CA

Recently i was stopped and the officer searched my vehicle. I was in possession of a single generic valium. I received a misdemeanor ticket and have a notice to appear in court.

My record is not clean, i had a felony possession 6 years ago, that was eventually expunged and taken off my record. No tickets or anything else since then.

What is the normal penalty for a single generic Valium? I still have contact for my lawyer from my previous escapade, but i dont want to fork out a ton of money (broke college student) to have her go and i just pay a fine. I have tried to search the internet but did not find much conclusive information.

Actually, if it's valium/diazepam rather than Klonopin/clonazepam it should be (4) not (2). Not that it makes much of a difference (it certainly can be corrected).
Obviously, you can get up to a year technically but that isn't going to happen in today's environment. However, unless I had a certain knowledge (like a plea deal on the table), I'd get that lawyer ready.
